Muir Group has a dedicated team of community housing officers, each of whom manages a patch of properties and is responsible for the following:

  • Allocating and letting properties which become empty
  • Dealing with all issues relating to your tenancy, home and neighbourhood
  • Dealing with nuisance and anti-social behaviour
  • Dealing with domestic violence, racist and other hate crimes
  • Getting residents involved in how their home and neighbourhood is managed
  • Delivering community development events and projects

If you have a query, try calling our customer services team on 0300 123 1222: if they cannot help they will pass your query on to another member of staff who can.

Contact us if you would like to discuss any issues relating to your tenancy, home or neighbourhood with your community housing officer.

Anti-social behaviour

Muir Group will not tolerate anti-social behaviour (ASB), or people or groups who cause nuisance or annoyance not only on our own housing schemes, but also in the wider communities in which we operate. We are fully aware of the misery that the unacceptable behaviour of a few can cause to the majority of people who just want to live peacefully in their homes.

If you are experiencing nuisance or anti-social behaviour, contact our customer services team. If the incidents are serious, contact your local police station immediately.

As each incident or problem is different, we assess the problem and then agree a suitable action plan with you to deal with it. Recent legislation has given housing associations more powers to tackle anti-social behaviour.

Proactive prevention

This issue is not just about punishing people who cause a nuisance. Muir Group is also proactive in trying to prevent anti-social behaviour on its housing schemes. Working in partnership with local authorities, police and other agencies has had an unprecedented effect on some of our neighbourhoods.

If you are the victim of nuisance or anti-social behaviour please don't suffer in silence. We need to know so that we can help.

For more information on how Muir Group deals with nuisance and anti-social behaviour please see our Anti-social behaviour factsheet, or read our policy and procedure for dealing with anti-social behaviour.

Racist and Hate crimes

Muir Group staff are trained to help victims of racist incidents or hate crimes including domestic violence and homophobic or transphobic harassment.

If you feel you are a victim of these crimes, contact the police to report the incident or explain your problem. You should also contact your community housing officer at Muir Group so that we can provide advice and assistance regarding your home and tenancy. We can also support you personally by agreeing a course of action with other specialist agencies.

Racist and hate crimes include:

  • Racial harassment and abuse
  • Homophobic and transphobic harassment and abuse
  • Domestic violence
  • Any form of harassment, abuse or crime which you feel is the result of your race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or beliefs, age, sex, sexuality, disability, appearance, marital status, caring responsibilities, work status or any other reason.

To find out more about how we can support you if you are a victim of racist or hate crimes see the relevant factsheet.

Victim Support

Victim Support is the independent national charity which helps people cope with crime. They have a network of local branches across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Their trained volunteers offer:

  • someone to talk to in confidence
  • information on police and court procedures
  • help in dealing with other organisations
  • information about compensation and insurance
  • links to other sources of help.

Anyone affected by or worried about crime can contact them directly for help – you do not need to have been a victim yourself. And if you report a crime to the police they will also put you in contact with them, if you want them to.

Victim Support services are free and available to everyone, whether or not the crime has been reported and regardless of when it happened. They are an independent organisation - not part of the police, courts or any other criminal justice agency.
