In the April 2011 edition of your Local Voice we set out our Local Offer to you. The Local Voice contained specific actions that we planned to take in your area between April 2011 and March 2012.
This edition of your Local Voice provides you with an update on the progress we had made so far and any action we have planned.
From your feedback we identified several priorities in your local area. Below is the action we have taken, or that we plan to take, in relation to these priorities.

Grounds Maintenance – was in need of improving
We have worked closely with our new contractors – Hi Spec, to ensure all the work carried out is in line with agreed specification. This also relates to the sites not covered by Hi Spec which is undertaken by a member of Muir staff.
Continue to work with residents and contractors to ensure all our sites are maintained to the agreed specification.
Anti social behaviour – including drink, drugs and unacceptable behaviour
We have worked closely with our partners, which include the police, mediation and environmental health to ensure that issues are resolved as efficiently as possible.
To continue to work with partner groups, and to build better relations with other partners. To work with residents sot that we can deal with all aspects of anti social behaviour as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Children and youths – concerns over youths hanging around the estates
Work with partnership organisations in organising groups for youths to attend over the summer.
Continue to work with residents, youths & partner organisations to give youths focus
Specific Local Issues:

Rubbish on a certain estate was an issue
We have ordered a further whellie bin to put on the site
Liaise with resident’s to ensure that site does not have further issues with rubbish.
Parking in the evening
We are in the process of carrying a survey of all the residents in the area to see who has use of a garage, what the garage is used for and if they think extra parking would be required
Once the survey has been completed we will look at the results and react to them. We must also think about planning issues, costs and value for money before any decisions can be made
Parking and car repairs
We have taken action against residents carrying out car repairs and have undertaken a review of the garages so we know exactly who is renting them and that they are used for the storing of cars where appropriate
Continue to monitor and work with residents and local councillors to ensure that if parking and car repairs becomes an issues again, we will deal with it straight away
TV aerials
The digital switch over has now happened and all residents should now be able to view digital tv without a free view box
To continue to monitor the aerials to ensure that any issues are dealt with quickly and efficiently
Pathways and tree roots
All the necessary work has now been completed in line with what work was requested of the contractor.
To monitor the tree roots to ensure that they do not cause further issues
Communal seating areas
A survey was carried out to all residents that lived on the estates to see if they would like communal seating areas
The survey has been completed and the results are that residents to not want communal seating as they do not want it to be a meeting area for youths, therefore we will not take this request any further
We want you to have a say in how your services are delivered. In your last Local Voice we told you about some of the opportunities to get involved in your area.
Below is an update on the activities we planned for 2011-2012.
We have also been awarded funds from Friends of Muir for ‘Thank Fun it’s Friday’, for youth activities for one day per week for six weeks during the summer school holidays.
The recently set up Southern Regional Forum is doing a great job and Ron Chambers from St George’s Walk, Worcester is chairman and Dave Ashwin from Caldicot is deputy chairman.
Many schemes have a Local Contact, who provides invaluable assistance to the Community Housing Officer, and to the Association. Through their contact we have been able to take action on matters that have been brought to our attention, such as repairs and anti-social behaviour. Other residents on these schemes have therefore benefited too.
.
If you would like to know more or get involved with any of the above please contact me.
Your last Local Voice included details of when we would carry out walkabouts on your estate.
Since July we have conducted estate inspections on all schemes. 7 were completed on the dates published in the last Local Voice. On many schemes residents also attended, giving very valuable assistance. No inspections needed to be rearranged.
As a result we have arranged for extra gardening works to be carried out on schemes, pathway repairs have been reported to the appropriate local authority, owners of untaxed vehicles have been requested to remove them and graffiti was noted and orders were raised immediately to have it removed.
On many schemes residents also attended, giving us valuable feedback.
