In the April 2011 edition of your Local Voice we set out our Local Offer to you. The Local Voice contained specific actions that we planned to take in your area between April 2011 and March 2012.

This edition of your Local Voice provides you with an update on the progress we had made so far and any action we have planned.

Your Priorities

From your feedback we identified several priorities in your local area. Below is the action we have taken, or that we plan to take, in relation to these priorities.

You said... We did... We will...
You dislike the amount of fly tipping and dog fouling work with local residents and the police to, identify the perpetrators and either get them to remove it themselves or recover the costs from them. continue to remove this a quickly as possible and investigate to establish who the perpetrators are and recover the costs
Parking is a huge problem in some areas Contact those who park badly, worked with local residents, police and other interested parties to reduce the problems. Continue to work with residents to encourage considerate parking and work with the local authorities to improve the situation
Anti-social behaviour and fraud We have taken action against a number of residents who have acted in an anti-social manner Continue to work with residents and the local authorities to identify and prevent fraud and anti-social behaviour

Specific Local Issues:

Location... You said... We did...
Godmanchester Trees are becoming too big and touching some properties, growing through telephone lines and blocking street lights We have carried out a second survey and a plan is being drawn up. The hedge at Field Walk is being dealt with as I write this, and the trees identified as needing urgent attention will be dealt with once all the leaves have dropped. We will continue surveying annually and will deal with the trees as the budget allows.
Godmanchester Non-occupation and sub-letting of properties We have identified more properties which had been sub-let. After commencing action 1 property has been given back and we are currently investigating and taking action against a number of others. Continue to work with residents, police and the Council fraud team to ensure that where we identify subletting or abandonment, the homes are brought back into legal use and action is taken against perpetrators
Sutton Bridge Shrubs and grass have died and spoil the outlook The Grounds Maintenance team will be tackling this problem during the winter schedule.
Upwood Speeding vehicles, inconsiderate parking and lack of gritting make the roads treacherous We have met with the Resident’s Group, BPHA, the school and various councillors from Parish, District and County councils to discuss what can be done alleviate the situation. The next meeting will be held in January as information from several sources has to be obtained.

The Parish council have obtained a second salt bin and BPHA have given permission to site it at the entrance to the estate so that the Highways dept. will be able to keep it topped up. Training for volunteers to distribute the salt around the estate will be given.
Fenstanton Inconsiderate parking by non-residents Continue to work with the police to encourage people to park elsewhere, where they do not impact on the safety of residents.

Getting Involved
