Blossoming garden gives Muir residents the feel good factor
RESIDENTS who revamped their community garden are seeing it blossom for the first time.
Tenants living at Muir’s Tweedsmuir scheme in Chester revived their garden’s tired look earlier this year, clearing borders and creating a central paved area where they can enjoy the sunshine.
They have been making the most of the hot weather to appreciate the carpet of colour they have created.
And vegetables are also proving to be a hit as is the general feel good factor around the scheme as a result.
Donna Hufton, Sheltered Housing Scheme Officer at Tweedsmuir said: “The health and wellbeing benefits of gardening are huge, from a physical, mental and emotional perspective as well as the nutritional value of eating home grown organic produce.
“I am delighted that our gardening project continues to be so beneficial to residents who are involved.”
Tweedsmuir resident, Maurice Hughes (pictured below), is particularly pleased with his crops of potatoes, onions, beans and peas which he generously shares with his neighbours.
Muir’s Supported Housing Officer, Emma Davies added: “I was delighted with the community spirit on show when residents took it upon themselves to create such a wonderful garden.
“I am pleased they are now able to enjoy it in all its glory.”
