Changes to the Disability Living Allowance

CHANGES are being made to the way people receive Disability Living Allowance.

If you are in receipt of Disability Living Allowance (DLA) then you may be affected by the changes.

Disability Living Allowance (DLA) is ending for people who were born after 8th April 1948 and are 16 or over.

DLA will be replaced by Personal Independence Payments (PIPs) as part of the Government's welfare reforms.

To claim PIPs, you will be required to carry out an assessment to work out the level of help you get.

Your rate will be regularly reassessed to make sure you’re getting the right support.

The rate you receive depends on how your condition affects you, not the condition itself.

You will continue to get DLA until the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) writes to you.

The letter you receieve will:
