McCartney House residents spread festive cheer

1Residents at a housing scheme in Huntingdon have been wrapping Christmas presents early this year in aid of a good cause.

People living at McCartney House have prepared 53 boxes full of goodies that will be sent to disadvantaged children and young people living in Romania.

Residents and staff have packed the boxes full of toiletries, hats, gloves scarfs, pens and pencils, toys, and sewing kits.

The boxes have been donated to the Blysthswood Charity, which supports social projects in underprivileged countries across the globe.

The residents at McCartney House, a sheltered scheme for adults over 60 years of age run by Muir Group Housing Association, have also sent out warm blankets and knitted clothes.

Jackie Vickey, Scheme Manager at McCartney House said:

“Our residents are always keen to support good causes, and Blythswood do an amazing job supporting families in some of the poorest countries in Europe, Africa and Asia.

“They have really enjoyed putting the boxes together and it has been great to do something to help people at Christmas who are less fortunate that us.”

Blythswood is founding member of Global Hand, and cooperates with likeminded charities around the world, supporting the work of local care professionals who best know the needs of their communities. For every £1 donated, Blythswood delivers more than £5 worth of aid.
