Muir Buys Repairs and Maintenance contractor OPBMS Ltd

Today, Muir Group successfully completed the purchase of OP Building Maintenance Services Ltd (OPBMS) which will now become an independent subsidiary company of Muir Group Housing Association Ltd.

OPBMS based in Warrington, Cheshire, has worked with Muir for the last six years carrying out repairs and maintenance services to the housing association's properties in the north west of England. All staff currently working for OPBMS will remain employed by OPBMS.

Catherine Dixson, Chief Executive at Muir said:

“Following discussions with Mike O’Halloran (the former owner of OPBMS), we were very interested in exploring the possibility of buying OPBMS. One of our key drivers is to control and manage our services to customers directly when it represents the best option in terms of providing excellent, efficient and effective services which demonstrate best value for money.

“We are now in a great position to develop a subsidiary company to help implement our asset management strategy across our business. Our first priority is to ensure that the repairs and maintenance needs of our customers in the north west continue to be met during this transition period. “

“During discussions with Muir, it was important to me that whoever took it on would be able to secure the future of OPBMS and its employees, and I believe that will be the case with Muir ,” said Mike O’Halloran, former owner and Managing Director of OPBMS.

Muir Chairman David Booth added: “It’s an important step for Muir as we complete the purchase of OPBMS for ensuring that our services to residents will continue to improve as well as change lives. At Muir, we put our residents at the heart of everything we do. Our aim is to continually improve the quality of their homes and the services we provide I am delighted to welcome this organisation and its staff to Muir Group.”

The new subsidiary company will continue to be known as OPBMS for the foreseeable future and operate from its existing base in Warrington.
