Muir pays tribute to Tony

Everybody at Muir was saddened to hear the news that Blackpool resident and Northern Regional Resident Forum Chairman Tony Hodson, recently passed away aged 77 following his courageous  battle with cancer.

Tony was a passionate advocate for Muir residents and believed that they should be at the heart of everything that Muir does. He was a founding member of our Northern Regional Residents Forum, and became its chair in 2010. Despite his illness, Tony continued to work tirelessly to improve customer services and the quality of life for fellow residents

Tony also championed the rights of his former fellow co-workers. Before his retirement, Tony worked as an engineer. When the TVR factory in Blackpool was threatened with closure in 2006, Tony fought passionately for the rights of staff.

Muir’s Chief Executive, Catherine Dixson said:

“Tony made a positive difference to people's lives, both directly through his work with Muir and in the wider community. Tony was a fantastic role model for our residents, playing an integral role in the creation of the Northern Regional Residents Forum. He will be greatly missed by everyone at Muir, and the residents he has met and worked alongside over the years.”

Tony’s funeral will be held at Carelton Crematorium in Blackpool, at 11am on Monday 2nd March.
