Summer fete brings fun to tenants and members of the community

A SUMMER fete saw members of the community join in on the fun with residents at one of Muir’s sheltered housing schemes.

Tenants at Tweedsmuir, Chester, opened their doors to visitors as they staged the event on Saturday, August 20.

The afternoon was filled with live music as well as virtual reality headsets, a barbeque, a visit from a bearded dragon plenty of games and craft stalls.

Summer FeteTweedsmuir scheme manager, Donna Hufton, was thrilled with the way the event turned out and said: “The afternoon was a great success.

“Everyone was in good spirits and had lots of fun.

“I would like to thank all of the residents at Tweedsmuir for their hard work. Their efforts definitely paid off.”

Families, friends and neighbours of the scheme enjoyed virtual reality rollercoasters and haunted houses, playing with Gizmo the Bearded Dragon, a tombola, tea and cakes, hotdogs and a tasty chilli made by Tweedsmuir resident Brian Hughes.

Adults and children competed to win a coconut on the coconut shy, and there were plenty of prizes to those who were able to hook a duck.

Summer Fete Visitors guessed the number of sweets in a jar and the name of a giant doll.

The event raised a total of £216 towards Tweedsmuir funds, and residents are already looking forward to their next event which will be a fundraising coffee morning for MacMillan.
