Youngsters face a fun filled summer thanks to funding boost

YOUNGSTERS at one of Muir’s community schemes will look forward to a summer full of activity thanks to a welcome boost in funding.

Muir Tenancy Services Officer, Robert Burrows, has been working in partnership with the Cheshire Community Foundation to help top up a cash kick from the Friends of Muir fund.

The £1,000 made available by the foundation will help provide youngsters at Glebe Green, in Winsford, with football coaching and gardening sessions during the summer holidays, with more potential activities still being arranged.

Friends of Muir has also donated £800 having previously helped the association assist communities in staging multiple events and activities at Muir schemes throughout the country.

Robert, pictured, said: “This funding will help give youngsters at Glebe Green plenty to do during the holidays and help them keep clear of any trouble.

“It will also help parents out as well as it is difficult to keep children occupied throughout the summer when they are off school.

“Cheshire Community Foundation turned our application around within the space of a month which enables us to ensure these activities are available.

“We are pleased we have been able to help.”

Football coaching will be available at Glebe Green’s multi-use area on the estate every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 1pm-4.30pm from July 26th right through until September 2nd.

Details about the dates and times of other activities will be mailed to tenants as well as posted on community notice boards as soon as they are confirmed.
