Musical coffee morning raises charity cash
A MORNING of songs, coffee and cake has raised more than £300 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
A total of £329.90 was raised by residents, as well as their families and friends, at McCartney House, a sheltered housing scheme run by Muir Group Housing Association.
Staff at the scheme have organised coffee mornings in aid of the cancer charity in the past but this is the first time they have organised a singer to entertain the guests.
“It went extremely well and we had almost 50 people supporting the event, which was wonderful,” said Jackie Vickery, manager of the scheme in Mowlands, Godmanchester.
“We had some brilliant entertainment from a local singer called James LeBec who put on a great show with tunes from Elvis, Matt Monro and Tom Jones.”
Funding for the entertainment at the coffee morning came from Muir Group’s charity arm Friends Of Muir Group.
Money raised for the charity came from a bring and buy sale, raffle and donations.
