Muir Staff Raise Thousands for CATH on Sponsored Sleepout
On the 5th December last year, members of staff from Muir Group gathered together on a cold winter's night, for a sponsored sleep out on behalf of CATH - Chester Aid To the Homeless.

On the sleepout, our brave members of staff experienced firsthand what it is like to sleep on the streets, without a roof over your head. Their hardship was well rewarded though, as they raised over £3000 for the charity!
The sleep out has been a regular event in Chester for many years and Tony Howley, Muir Group’s Supported Housing Initiative’s Officer, had attended most years quietly raising thousands of pounds for CATH before his untimely death in January 2008. Tony’s colleagues thought that the mass sleep out would be a good opportunity to remember the dedication and commitment he showed to reducing homelessness.
CATH is one of Chester's leading charities, founded in 1972 to provide help and support to the area's homeless people.
CATH isn't simply about providing emergency accommodation and soup kitchens, however. Its work covers a long and complex journey of helping homeless people to rebuild their lives, with the ultimate aim of enabling them to once again move back into mainstream housing.
The charity currently has a day centre, overnight emergency accommodation, a hostel and shared houses to take people through the process of improving their situation.
