The wait is over!
WHEN the villagers of Swinstead were given a £2,000 windfall to spend …they came up with an idea that would be ‘fare’ for every generation.
The community took a vote to buy a wooden bus shelter to keep school children and the pensioners of the village snug and dry in rainy weather.
The money was donated to the village by Friends of Muir Group – a charitable organisation dedicated to improving the quality of life for Muir Group Housing Association residents and the communities they live in.
“Living in a small village, buses are vital to us,” explained Garry Cox, Clerk to Swinstead Parish Council.
“All the children go to school outside the village and use the buses, and our elderly population regularly use the bus to travel to town for shopping. There is no doubt our new shelter will be used on a daily basis.”
Beverley Price, Community Engagement Officer for Muir Group Housing Association, said: “The whole village was consulted about how best to spend the money – and we are delighted that it is being used for something that will benefit so many villagers – whatever their age!”
