Residents work to boost community spirit
NORTHWICH residents are asking their neighbours to come together in a bid to help boost community spirit.
Residents at Victoria House, which is run by Muir Group Housing Association, are opening their doors to the public as part of the Big Lunch scheme on Sunday, July 19, from 1pm to 4pm.
The Big Lunch scheme is part of a nationwide project aimed at encouraging neighbours to dine together for the day to help improve community cohesion.
The event, at Church Road, will feature a barbecue, tombola, bric-a-brac stores, a car boot sale, face painting, and even a Tae Kwon Do display.
Residents have also teamed up with supermarket Lidl to organise a sponsored trolley run around Northwich to collect unwanted items for local charities.
Local support services will be attending throughout the day to pass on information on their services and all money raised will go to local charities.
Kate McInerney, manager at Victoria House, said: “This is a great way for people to come together and create a sense of community spirit.
“We have events to suit all the family and we would like to see as many people as possible at Victoria House on the day.”
