Greater access to affordable homes for Warrington residents
WARRINGTON residents are being given greater access to affordable housing thanks to a new lettings service being delivered in partnership across Warrington.
Muir Group Housing Association and Golden Gates Housing are working together to deliver a unified Choice Based Lettings (CBL) service called CHOOSEaHOME for residents across the town.
The joint policy and register will mean that residents will only need to join one housing register to be able to apply for social housing owned by Muir Group and Golden Gates Housing, as well as other participating registered social landlords.
Emma Meredith, assistant regional housing manager for Muir Group, explains: “A choice based lettings system gives a more open and less confusing way of allocating social housing across Warrington.
“By working together with Golden Gates we are giving our tenants access to more properties across a wider area.”
Mary Rigby, CHOOSEaHOME manager at Golden Gates Housing, added: “We believe that by working together with partner groups under CHOOSEaHOME we can deliver increased ease of access to a greater number of properties across Warrington, whilst increasing customer satisfaction.”
Most available homes are advertised every Thursday in the Warrington Guardian and in housing offices. Each week applicants are invited to bid for any of these vacant homes depending on their eligibility. Bids currently close on Mondays at midnight. If there is more than one applicant for each advertised home, the applicant with the highest priority and who has been on the CHOOSEaHOME register the longest will be successful.
