Special Olympian shows the sky’s the limit for people with disabilities

Special Olympian Gold medal winner Kim Estebanez is to give a gymnastics display to headline a Muir Group event on Saturday 21 June for people with disabilities in Chester.

The open day, which also features a cooking challenge against the clock by the Countess of Chester Hospital’s chefs, is being organised by local housing association Muir Group. It will be held at Rowlands Lodge, one of several supported housing schemes managed by Muir. The day will be grouped round the three themes of health, happiness and housing.

Rowlands Lodge manager Virginia Young said:

“There are lots of organisations in Chester helping people with disabilities to improve their lives, whether through better housing, training, finding work, or better health. But not everyone knows such great services are out there to help people in Chester. That is why we wanted to hold this open day, to show people outside Rowlands Lodge that it really is an exciting time with so many choices available.
“We at Rowlands Lodge are inviting people with disabilities, their carers, families and professionals, to come along on 21 June and see the range of services available, and talk with the experts. We are delighted that so many local organisations are coming to join us on the day.”

Whether it be a physical disability, learning difficulty or mental health problem - the open day will have a wealth of information available that could really help people and their family or carers.
