News in Brief - Summer 2015
Well done Lauren
A huge well done to our Community Housing Officer Lauren Wheeldon, who took part in the Chester Half Marathon.
Lauren will be a familiar face to some of you, through her work in Chester and Blacon.
Despite her busy day job, and as a result of months of early morning hill runs and gruelling training, Lauren completed the half-marathon in a time of 2hrs 9mins.
Lauren’s efforts also saw her raise £723 for the Make-a-Wish Foundation, which grants magical wishes for children who are fighting life-threatening illnesses.
Well done Lauren!
Cornwall House raises money for Nepal Earthquake
On the 25th April, a huge earthquake hit the country of Nepal, killing thousands and injuring many more.
Like everyone, the staff and residents of Cornwall House were both shocked and moved by the pictures and news footage coming from the country in the days after the earthquake.
So they decided to hold a bake sale to raise money for the Nepal Earthquake Appeal, which has so far raised millions towards the victims of the disaster.
Their tasty cakes went down a treat, with over £50 being raised towards the appeal. Let us know if you are actively involved in raising money for your chosen charities and we will try and feature it in VOICE. The next edition will be published in December.
