AMBITIOUS MUIR APPRENTICES EDGE CLOSER TO THEIR HOUSING QUALIFICATIONS

TWO Muir apprentices have been sharing their housing hopes as they edge closer to achieving new qualifications in the sector.

Williams Cossins and Gill Roberts are one year into their 18-month apprenticeships – providing them with a host of new skills as they work towards Chartered Institute of Housing Level 2 Housing/Property Management Assistant Certificates.

They have spent time with both the housing services and customer experience teams, helping residents resolve a range of issues as they seek to build their own social housing careers.

“I’m really proud of how both William and Gill have developed during their time so far,” Emma Robinson, Muir’s Housing Services Manager said.

Muir staff“We are pleased we can provide them with a great grounding in the social housing sector at Muir.”

William, 20, told Muir he harbours ambitions to move into the development and property services aspects of housing following successful completion of his apprenticeship term.

“They are areas that I’m interested in working in,” said William.

“The continued support I’ve had from Muir throughout the programme has given me a good understanding of what the workplace is like and my confidence has improved a lot as a result.

“I enjoy having a workload to manage and learning how to speak with residents to help resolve any issues for them.”

Muir staffGill’s inspiration for entering the social housing sector comes from having once found herself homeless for several months.

“My aspiration is to become a housing officer, but it has been great learning about other aspects of the business and experiencing those too,” Gill said.

“I feel like I am building up a really informed knowledge and the teaching modules and assignments have been great for helping with that too.”
