Budgeting - Making your money go further

MANAGING your money can prove difficult when there are so many bills to be paid.

Sometimes you find there is nothing left in your pocket at the end of them, or that you might even fall short on what you owe.

However, there are many ways you can budget for things in order to make little savings which can result in a big difference at the end of the month, making sure you have everything covered and something left over as well.

Muir Money Advisor, Wayne Pearson, who appears in the informative video below, said: “Budgeting your money will make a big difference to the way you manage things and help you feel more in control of your finances.

“Make a list of how much things such as individual bills, rent, food, fuel and other things cost you each month and then add them together to see how much it is.

“The total amount might come as a shock but by putting some of our advice into practice, and searching for better deals, that figure will soon start to come down, taking some of the pressure off your pocket.”

Checking with energy providers to ensure you are on the most suitable tariff for what you use, or swapping to another, cheaper provider can make a difference to you monthly bills, as can paying for these by direct debit.

But there are plenty of other things you can also do to make a saving, such as unplugging items when not in use, or freezing meals down and reheating them instead of cooking everything from scratch each day.
