CANDLES CAN CAUSE A DANGEROUS FIRE HAZARD – CONSIDER THESE TIPS WHENEVER THEY’RE LIT

CREATING an atmosphere with candles can cause a dangerous fire hazard.

Candles are one of the most common causes of house fires.

Always take extra precautions whenever lighting candles in your home.

Follow these Fire Safety tips to help stay safe and reduce the risk in your home if you use candles.

 

 

  • Fire symbol Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Always put candles on a heat resistant surface.
  • Always use a suitable holder when burning candles.
  • Don't put them under shelves or other enclosed spaces.
  • Keep candles and other naked flames out of the reach of children and away from pets.
  • Blowing out candles can send sparks and hot wax flying, use a snuffer or spoon instead.
  • Don’t move candles when they’re burning.
  • Keep loose clothing and hair away from candles/tea lights when lit.
  • Burn ritual or scented candles in a suitable glass or metal container that can withstand the heat.
