CELEBRATING ALL OF YOU HELPING EACH OTHER IN OUR COMMUNITIES THIS VOLUNTEER WEEK

‘COMMUNITY Champions’ can make a massive difference to the people and places where they live.
This Volunteers’ Week, we’re celebrating two of those who help their fellow Muir residents to maximise their quality of life.
Sheila Teasedale and Pauline Kelly regularly run errands to fulfil tasks for neighbours in their communities – also helping them access our services if ever they need help.
Sheila, of Montrose Close in Warrington, often goes the extra mile in her Muir community too, helping residents with cleaning, preparing food, raising concerns reporting repairs or switching to a new energy provider – even helping neighbours attend medical appointments.
She said: “After being a Muir resident for over ten years, I feel I can help and support elderly tenants on the estate. My door is always open, and I have always got the kettle on.
“I love my home, especially my garden, and I love living on Montrose Close alongside many friends and good neighbours.”
Pauline, from Nantwich, collects prescriptions and does some shopping for her neighbours, and encourages them to attend our events, including our Big Chat – to make sure they had their say on services they receive.
“It keeps me busy and I like helping out where and when I can – it’s good to help people with things they need,” Pauline said.
We loved hearing about the ways residents helped each other – taking pride in their Muir communities to help people maximise their quality of life.
We’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who volunteers to help people in your Muir communities too – helping us ensure they remain safe and happy in their homes.
Volunteers’ Week is an annual UK-wide campaign held from the first Monday in June to celebrate and recognise the contributions of volunteers and the diversity and unity of volunteer work across the country.
