CELEBRATING MUIR'S LOCKDOWN HEROES - DANIELLE CARVER

AMID the many COVID-19 lockdowns, we asked Muir residents to vote for their Lockdown Heroes - both residents and non-residents who had helped and brought joy to the people living with Muir.

We're delighted to celebrate those you thought deserved Hero status!

Congratulations and thank you to Danielle Carver!

Muir resident Salvation Army worker, Danielle Carver, saw her efforts to help others increase even further during lockdown as she helped neighbours and members of her family overcome the challenges of COVID-19.

Working for the charity’s Employment Plus group, Danielle regularly helps people with housing and tenancy issues, working to find homes for those without and while also helping people get back into work.

A Muir resident in Wisbech, Danielle, became a member of the Royal Voluntary Service during lockdown, volunteering to deliver prescriptions and shopping to elderly and vulnerable people.

Horoes poster She also dedicated herself to supporting three households within her own family with items as they shielded due to their own vulnerable circumstances.

“It has been a very busy year,” said Danielle, who has turned 21 during the lockdowns.

“Things have been so full-on, but I really enjoy helping people with things and supporting their confidence and wellbeing.

“The support provided by Salvation Army increased a lot and I have been helping my family and neighbours get the things they needed whenever I was going to the shops too.

When helping one family to find a new home, Danielle as part of her job, Danielle even reached into her own pocket to ensure they could hire the van they needed to move, while also ensuring they had fresh food and Easter eggs for their children.

“It was really lovely to be recognised for doing some of these things,” Danielle said when receiving her award.

“But my mum works just as hard to help everyone as well, so I’d like to share this with her too.”
