CELEBRATING MUIR'S LOCKDOWN HEROES - SHEILA TEASDALE

AMID the many COVID-19 lockdowns, we asked Muir residents to vote for their Lockdown Heroes - both residents and non-residents who had helped and brought joy to the people living with Muir.

We're delighted to celebrate those you thought deserved Hero status!

Congratulations and thank you to Sheila Teasdale!

Muir resident NEIGHBOURS of Sheila Teasdale nominated the caring Muir resident as a Lockdown Hero after saying how she’d helped them overcome some of the challenges they faced because of COVID-19 restrictions.

Sheila did a little bit of everything to ensure they were able to get everything they needed, from shopping and prescriptions to doorstep chats and television tuning.

Muir resident The 70-year-old said she never stopped throughout Lockdown as she made herself available to help anyone she could and explained that she was delighted to know her efforts were so appreciated when she received her award.

“I think, it’s lovely to be recognised,” said Warrington resident, Sheila, who is also a full-time carer for her brother.

“I really do appreciate it, but I do everything simply because I like helping people.

“I’ve enjoyed a cup of tea on people’s doorsteps while we’ve worn our masks so we all had someone to talk to and I’ve helped neighbours get the things they needed.”

Heroes poster Sheila has even helped to arrange decorators and carpet cleaners for her neighbours when they’ve needed something doing, and made phone calls on their behalf if they’ve received correspondence from utility providers.

“I haven’t stopped but if I can’t do a job and be happy doing it then I might as well give up – but I really do enjoy helping people.
