CELEBRATING MUIR'S LOCKDOWN HEROES - Susan Simpson

AMID the many COVID-19 lockdowns, we asked Muir residents to vote for their Lockdown Heroes - both residents and non-residents who had helped and brought joy to the people living with Muir.

We're delighted to celebrate those you thought deserved Hero status!

Congratulations and thank you to Susan Simpson!

Muir residentSUSAN Simpson was nominated as a Lockdown Hero by the residents at the McCartney House Muir Living scheme in Godmanchester.

Susan coordinates the Godmanchester Community Timebank who’s support has been hugely appreciated by residents both there and throughout the local community.

The Timebank team have received more than 2,000 requests for help since COVID-19 struck from across the Godmanchester community, with over 570 volunteers dedicating their time to support elderly and vulnerable people.

Timebank volunteers collected prescriptions, shopping, flowers, loaves of bread, magazines and books for residents at McCartney House and beyond.

Susan also organised free home-cooked meals from the local pub and ensured they were delivered to those where it was felt needed.

Upon receiving her Lockdown Hero award from Muir, Susan said: “I feel totally privileged and humbled that so many people have trusted me to help them during these times.

“This is great recognition for all the many selfless volunteers who have given their time and support to make this level of support possible.

“We have never failed to deliver a request and it has been lovely to build relationships with people throughout all this.

“I can’t wait to meet all the residents of McCartney House properly after lockdown restrictions are over.”
