HAVE YOUR SAY ON NEW CONSUMER STANDARDS DESIGNED TO IMPROVE YOUR QUALITY OF LIFE

HAVE your say on new consumer standards designed to make sure you live in a safe, quality home and help you hold your landlord to account.

The Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) is holding a consultation on four draft new standards to protect you and improve services you receive – and it wants to know what you think.

They standards sit alongside the Social Housing (Regulation) Act, which outline new obligations landlords will have to follow, while giving more powers to the RSH and the Housing Ombudsman.

  • Ofsted-like’ inspections, carried out by the RSH, with as little as 48 hours’ notice.
  • Allowing the RSH to issue ‘performance improvement plan notices’ if landlords fail, or there's a risk they will fail, to meet standards.
  • Specific timescales for landlords to respond to and investigate repairs.

The standards set the levels registered housing providers must meet so residents live in safe, quality homes, have choice and protection, and can hold landlords to account.
