HOW MUIR CONTINUES TO MAKE SURE RURAL HOUSING MATTERS

WITH a history of providing affordable homes in rural areas, Muir has been making sure rural housing matters for more than 50 years.

High prices in rural areas often lead to a lack affordable homes, meaning families are regularly forced to move away from the people and places they love.

However, Muir plays its part in keeping rural communities together, providing more than 180 new, affordable homes in rural locations since 2014 alone; both for rent and shared ownership.

Muir homes “Building affordable homes in rural settings is something we love doing because we know how much they mean to the lives people in those communities,” Alex Fury, Muir’s Assistant Director of Assets and Growth said.

“It can make the difference between enabling people to live in a place they love or seeing them leave friends and family behind in search of affordable living.

“The opportunity to work in these communities, often on smaller schemes, is something we never overlook.”

Muir staff Muir is committed to making sure rural housing matters in the years ahead too, maintaining its tradition of providing affordable homes where they’re needed most.

“The Association is built upon foundations of giving as many people as possible the chance to enjoy an affordable home, whether it be in rural or built-up locations,” Alex (pictured) said.

“Our development programme always includes rural opportunities, and this is something we always ensure features strongly when we’re building foundations for people’s futures too.”
