MUIR LIVING RESIDENT CELEBRATES 105TH BIRTHDAY AND SAYS “THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE HOME”

A RESIDENT celebrating her 105th birthday says "there’s no place like home" after following the yellow brick road to her Muir Living community.

Trudy (Gertrude) Dumbill says her secret to long life stems from enjoying the great outdoors and being part of a good community as she raised a glass to her 105 years.

Born in 1920, Mrs Dumbill explained how she’s scaled Snowdon many times while also enjoying the fresh air on various French holidays before settling at the Smithy Court 'Muir Living' scheme in Little Sutton near Ellesmere Port.

“It’s all very friendly at Smithy Court and I enjoy the community here,” said Mrs Dumbill, who received a special birthday card from King Charles III and Queen Camilla – to add to the one she received from Queen Elizabeth II on her 100th birthday.

“I have a nice little room that gets the sun.

“There’s no place like home.

When asked about any advice to live a long life, Mrs Dumbill recalled holidays in France with her husband and climbing Wales’ highest peak.

“The great outdoors,” she said.

“We often went to Snowdonia for weekends and I’ve been up Snowdon many times.

It’s good to have fresh air and we also enjoyed holidays in France for the same reason.

“I’ve lived a full life and life has been kind so I can’t grumble,” she added.
