NEW MUIR HOMES REGISTER WITH PUPILS IN SCHOOL STREET NAME COMPETITION

PRIMARY school pupils have set their sights on having naming rights to an Ellesmere Port street housing 29 new Muir homes.

Pupils at the town’s Cambridge Road Primary School are conjuring up a street name that will help create a new community close to where they live and learn.

The new Muir homes will help bring more affordable futures to the area, with 25 two and three-bed houses, and four one-bed apartments, all being made available for affordable rent and shared ownership.

Muir homes Work has already begun with developers, Lane End Group, to revitalise the former ‘Cousins’ factory site at Cromwell Road; with pupils learning about the history of the site as well as its ‘fabulous new future’ – as they inspire it’s brand-new street name.

“We are so pleased that pupils from Years 4 and 5 at Cambridge Road Primary School are going to help Muir name the new street,” Annette Westwater, Muir Development Officer (pictured with pupils from the school) said.

“I had a fantastic time visiting pupils with Laura Banner, Social Value Manager at Lane End Group, to give a presentation about the development and discuss the history and geography of the site.

Muir staff and pupils“The pupils asked some really interesting questions and I think they’ll have some fantastic ideas for street names.”

Pupils are getting their thinking caps on for the street naming competition, with the winning name to be chosen by Cheshire West and Chester Council.

The development will see four one-bed flats, four three-bed houses and 15 two-bed properties all made available for affordable rent with Muir.

Six three-bed homes will be provided for shared ownership with Homes By Muir.

Muir homes“We’re really pleased to be delivering this scheme,” Alex Fury, Muir’s Assistant Director of Assets and Growth said.

“And we’re delighted that pupils of Cambridge Road Primary School will be making such an important contribution to the area’s fabulous new future.”
