PEACE RESTORED TO COMMUNITY AS RESIDENTS THANK MUIR FOR ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR ACTION

A COMMUNITY says it can ‘live in peace again’ after thanking Muir for helping to secure an anti-social behaviour injunction.

Muir worked with police and residents to close a Chester property and secure a court injunction to prevent the resident causing a nuisance, abusing or threatening anyone within 200 metres of his former home.

Residents have thanked Muir for the action taken by the Association as it underlined its commitment to tackling anti-social behaviour in its communities.

“Muir welcomes the action taken by police and the court to help return harmony to this community,” Jo Worthington, Muir’s Community Housing Manager said.

“Anti-social behaviour is something we take very seriously, and the outcome of this case shows we are always prepared to act for the wellbeing of Muir residents.

“I’d like to thank the community for its understanding and patience while this matter was resolved, and police for helping to ensure such a positive resolution.”

The court injunction, delivered on September 22 at Chester Crown Court, also forbids the offender from encouraging others to act on his behalf by causing nuisance to residents, or from hindering, obstructing or assaulting anyone within 200 metres of the property.

Secured under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, the closure order makes it a crime for anyone other than the landlord to be at the house over the next three months.

A Muir resident who thanked the Association for its support said: “It’s not been easy but it already feels a lot better, knowing we now can all live in peace again.”

Following up on resident feedback, and having also consulted with Muir’s National Residents Group, The Association introduced its new revised policy in October 2020.
