RESIDENT ‘HAVING A HOOT’ SINCE SPREADING HER WINGS WITH MUIR

NINETY-SIX-YEAR-OLD Phyl Davies has been ‘having a hoot’ as a Muir resident for more than 30 years.

The owl lover has filled her flat with well over 100 ornaments and images of the birds since swooping into Muir’s McCartney House sheltered housing scheme in Cambridgeshire.

OwlsMrs Davies moved having previously lived with her husband in their home at Godmanchester, near Huntingdon, just a very short flight from where she lives now

She says she’s never looked back since spreading her wings with Muir and wished the Association a happy birthday as it celebrates its 50th year.

“I’m happy here,” Mrs Davies said. “I love it.

Owls“I have good neighbours at McCartney House and I’ve had lots of good times here.

“My sister was one of the first Muir residents at McCartney House, one of the first six that ever came here to live.

“I almost moved here then but I loved my house so much I found it hard to leave.

“I came to McCartney House three years after it opened and I think it has the best flats in the area.”

Phyl Davies When she isn’t sitting among the colourful feathered friends that adorn her flat, Mrs Davies says she enjoys the concerts and coffee mornings with her fellow residents in the communal area of the scheme.

She is one of Muir’s longest-serving residents.

“It was a good decision to come here and I love the garden,” she said.

“And I’d like to say Happy 50th Birthday to Muir too.”

OwlsMcCartney House (below) is a sheltered scheme for adults over 60 years of age, with independent living, but with support available should it become necessary.
