Resident says Muir provided platform for family to flourish after celebrating Eton scholarship
A RESIDENT who moved to Britain ten years ago says Muir helped provide the platform for her sons to flourish after one received a coveted Eton scholarship while the other pursues his footballing dream.
Ghanaian-born Faustina Motes holds German citizenship but moved to the UK a decade ago where she applied for a home with Muir Group Housing Association.
After settling in Chester, the support worker says she enjoys being part of the community at her Blacon home and that her sons are reaping the reward of the help Muir have been able to provide.
“I came here with my boys when they were just seven and nine-years-old,” Miss Motes said.
“Muir were so helpful. They helped me obtain furniture that I needed and the maintenance team were very helpful too.
“When I call Muir with a problem they help me. They have always done whatever they can.”
Miss Motes, who works with people who have learning difficulties, said: “Having a house and being in a community where you feel stable helps you to do the things you want to do.
“It helps me do my job and it has helped my sons too.”
Youngest son, Marcel, 16, (pictured) was recently awarded a scholarship to the famed Eton College, attended by 19 former Prime Ministers, Princes William and Harry, and a host of distinguished writers and scientists to name but a few.
The former Blacon High School Head Boy will study Law, English Literature, History and Spanish.
He said: “I am really looking forward to it. It will be great experience.
“But I enjoy living here in Blacon with Muir.
“It is a close community. People know each other and you feel comfortable.”
Miss Motes’ eldest son, 18-year-old Christoph, is currently in Germany attending football trials with clubs and academies in the country.
She hopes that both can be successful in their chosen fields having benefited from the help and housing Muir have been able to offer.
“When we came from Germany, Muir helped source good schools for my sons and I am very proud of them,” said Miss Motes.
“I would like to stay in Blacon with Muir and I would recommend them as a housing association to anyone.”
