Resident says Muir restored his pride after finding him a home to be happy in

PRIDE and confidence have returned to a man after he found a home to be happy in with Muir.

Kevin Garner, who lives in St Neots, Cambridgeshire, explained how Muir Group Housing Association has given him the support he needed to regain the dignity that he says comes with having a place to live.

Mr Garner, 60 (pictured), had been living with a friend after a previous tenancy came to an end.

Kevin Garner But he got in touch with Muir three years ago and has been happy ever since.

“Muir have helped to give me stability,” Mr Garner said.

“They have helped me restore my pride and dignity by having my own home.

“My confidence has come back.”

Mr Garner is a former scaffolder who worked on building sites for 30 years, and he says he misses the camaraderie of those days after health issues forced him to step away from his work.

But sitting in The Bridge Hotel in Huntingdon, he was also happy to reminisce about his other true love – Luton Town Football Club.

A lifelong fan, he cheered The Hatters all the way to Wembley in 1988, for their most famous victory – a League Cup Final against Arsenal, with two late goals securing a dramatic 3-2 win.

However, Mr Garner also had plenty of cheers for Muir, and the help he receives from his Tenancy Services Officer when he calls.

“The process of finding a home with Muir was quick and easy once I contacted them,” he said.

Kevin Garner “There was no stress. I applied for a couple of properties and was successful with the second one I went for.

“My home is very handy for the shops, the doctors and the chemist, and where I live is nice and quiet.

“Muir provided me with a place I can call my own where I don’t have to share any facilities.

“They also fitted a new bathroom recently which I am very pleased with.

“My Tenancy Services Officer, Sherralyn Webb, has helped me so much.

“If it wasn’t for Muir and Sherralyn I don’t know where I’d be now.

“But I can’t fault Muir as a housing association,” Mr Garner added.

“I’d definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a place to live.”

Sherralyn Webb Muir, TSO, Sherralyn (pictured left) said: "I'm really pleased Mr Garner is happy in his home and that Muir were able to help him.
