WHY BUSY BRENDA IS LOVING LIFE AT ONE OF MUIR’S SHELTERED HOUSING SCHEMES

BRENDA Jones says moving to one of Muir’s sheltered housing schemes with her husband has helped them hugely over the last five years.

The couple had begun having difficulties maintaining their previous home, so made the move to Muir to make life a little easier; and enjoy the social atmosphere the Association’s Tweedsmuir scheme provides.

She talked about her love for the place where she also started volunteering two years ago, helping to reduce isolation in the community by playing her part in hosting events there as part of a wider BrightLife initiative.

“It’s good to meet new people and find out their stories and it’s also something me and Tom can do together.

“It helps make Tweedsmuir a lovely place to be.”

When she isn’t making tea for visitors or preparing food for Tom to put on the barbeque, Brenda (pictured here with Supported Housing Officer, Emma Davies) also keeps busy learning new skills, recently completing a First Aid course.

Donna Hufton, Muir’s Sheltered Scheme Manager at Tweedsmuir in Chester said: “It’s been great to see Tweedsmuir residents opening up their doors to the wider community as part of the BrightLife project.
