WHY RURAL HOMES ARE KEY TO OUR BUILDING NEW HOMES STRATEGY

PROVIDING new affordable homes in rural communities is a massive part of our Building New Homes Strategy.

It means people can remain in communities they love at an affordable price, both for rent and shared ownership.

Delivering new affordable rural developments is key to keeping communities together.

Muir staffOur Building New Homes Strategy isn’t only about building new homes, it’s about providing them in places where they’re needed most,” Alex Fury, Muir’s Assistant Director of Development said.

“Providing rural properties is something we’ve been passionate about for more than 50 years at Muir, and we’ve a wonderful tradition of ensuring rural developments remain high on our agenda.

“Even small clusters of new properties can make a massive difference, keeping families and communities together.

“Working on new rural developments is something we love to do.”

Rural housing forms a big part of our Building New Homes Strategy which saw us set a target of at least 500 new homes in rural and built-up areas from 2022-27.

Muir homesMany of the 400 we’ve completed so far underline our commitment to rural development - ensuring this remains key to our identity as a housing association.

“We’re extremely proud of our approach to providing new affordable homes in rural areas,” Sophie Whittingham, Muir Development Manager said.

“We enjoy seeing the difference they make to people’s lives and it’s something we will absolutely continue to do in the years ahead.”
