On Board
Farewell to David
Earlier this year we said a fond farewell to David Booth, who retired as chairman of Muir Group Housing Association’s board after four years in the role.
David joined Muir’s Board in 2000, becoming its chair in 2011.
During his 20 years with the Association, David has seen Muir grow to become more than just a landlord.
David said he feels very privileged to have worked alongside some dynamic and forward-thinking people during his time at Muir.
“I have enjoyed my time at Muir immensely and it was a real wrench to go. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved over the years, and I leave in the knowledge that Muir is in safe hands thanks to the strong leadership and governance we have in place,” said David.
David retires with the best wishes of the board and its thanks for his impressive achievements. He will be replaced as chair by fellow board member David Gardiner, who has great experience working with regulatory bodies.
He added: “Our incoming chair, David Gardiner, has a wealth of experience and he will ensure that Muir continues to redefine excellence across the business. He will undoubtedly have tremendous support from all who work there, and I wish him and Muir every success for the future.”
Two new members join the Board

We would like to welcome both Robert Fleming and Peter McHugh to the Muir Board.
Robert is a director of a specialist regeneration consultancy and a Chartered Surveyor with over 25 years’ experience in property development and area based regeneration.
Robert has played a key role in determining impact and evaluation of projects and programmes for a range of public and private sector clients across the North West, including Local Authorities and housing providers.
Peter is a consultant specialising in asset management and housing strategy.
Formerly Peter was the Head of Housing and Economic Development with Denbighshire County Council and has held Executive roles with leading North West Registered Social Providers (RSPs).
Peter has provided consultancy services to a number of high profile clients including Department of Communities and Local Government, Government Offices for the Regions and Salford City Council.
Peter has acted as a strategic adviser to ODPM and the Welsh Assembly Minister for Housing.
David Gardiner, Chairman of Muir said:
“I am delighted to welcome both Robert and Peter to the Muir Board. Their experience and knowledge of the housing industry is second to none, and I know it will prove to be invaluable as Muir tackles the challenges that lie ahead.”
