A SHARED OWNERSHIP SLICE OF MUIR'S RURAL LIFE ISN’T COSTING THE EARTH FOR COMMUNITIES
HELPING family, friends and communities to grow in rural areas is something Muir has retained a commitment to throughout more than 50 years as an affordable housing provider.
That’s why we continue to build properties that bridge the gap between rented accommodation and escalating house prices in less populated areas.
The appeal of a slice of rural life has seen house prices grow in line with others across the country, but it can also put a strain on rural communities where people can no longer afford to buy homes in the places they love.
Families, friends and communities have been separated in search of affordable lifestyles elsewhere as they are gradually priced out of the villages they grew up in.
But Muir continues to provide affordable shared ownership and rental options which allow people to remain or return to the rural landscapes they call home.
The Association’s sales officer, Gill D’Arcy, said: “Ensuring we provide affordable alternatives to high housing prices in rural areas makes a massive difference to families and those communities as a whole.
“We’ve provided shared ownership homes which have been quickly snapped up in various parts of the country, mainly by people with local connections which shows just how important rural development remains.”
While a modestly-sized housing association, Muir has delivered more than 70 shared ownership homes to rural communities in the last few years, including Cheshire, Lincolnshire and Lancashire.
