ALLOWING MUIR ACCESS FOR LIFE-SAVING GAS SAFETY CHECKS REMAINS ESSENTIAL DURING COVID-19

CONTINUING to carry out vital Gas Safety checks remains essential regardless of any COVID-19 restrictions.

That’s why Muir ensured these annual checks took place throughout lockdown, and continue to happen.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) stand firm that the annual checks must be completed, because the same risks of carbon monoxide poisoning and gas explosions remain, despite COVID-19.

We continue to work with residents to ensure these checks are carried out in a safe way during the pandemic – but it’s important you allow us access when we confirm an appointment.

Not doing so means you are putting yourself, your family and your neighbours at risk.

Aaron Services “The safety measures around social distancing and PPE/mask wearing apply when operatives visit your home to do these annual checks during COVID-19,” Sharon Thomas, Muir’s Compliance Officer said.

“The tenant does not have to be in the same room as the engineer while they check the gas meter (often external anyway), gas appliances (boiler, fire, etc) and smoke detectors (also for fire safety), and can ventilate the area by opening doors and windows.

“Allowing Muir’s gas service providers access to conduct these checks is vital, and classed as an essential service.”

Liberty GasMuir works with Liberty Gas to provide gas services to residents in the North and North-West regions, and with Aaron Services in our East region.
