Children's sport and dance sessions to kick off this summer after funding success

AN ACTIVE programme of sport and dance will be delivered to children throughout the summer holidays thanks to a successful £7,000 funding bid.

‘Awards for All’ have agreed to provide funding for the scheme in Winsford which is being run throughout the six-week holiday period in partnership with fellow housing association Weaver Vale and the GGO Community Group.

The programme of activities will be rolled out across three large social housing estates – Glebe Green, Greenfields and Over - providing free football and dance sessions to help engage children during the summer period.

Rob Burrows Robert Burrows (pictured), a Muir Tenancy Services Offer for the Association’s Cheshire East and Warrington area, said he was delighted to receive confirmation that the funding had been granted having submitted the successful application.

He said: “Receipt of the funding is fantastic news and will allow us to work on delivering an entertaining programme of sport and dance related activities for the schoolchildren of Glebe Green, Greenfields and Over.

“We look forward to working with Weaver Vale and the GGO Community Group, which is a volunteer lead group committed to providing opportunities for residents across the three large Glebe Green, Greenfields and Over estates.

Glebe Green activities “We hope children living in these areas will take full advantage of these activities and enjoy taking part.

“The activities will help parents out too, as they provide a great way of keeping children entertained.”

The activities follow the successful football coaching sessions which Muir provided in Glebe Green last summer.

Details about this summer’s activities will be published nearer the time.
