Community comes together to open new play area

A state-of-the-art adventure playground has been unveiled in Cinnamon Brow, Warrington.

The Mayor of Warrington, Cllr Geoff Settle, along with his charity mascot Teddy George, declared the new play area officially open at a special celebration event.


The transformed play area on Rowland Close now boasts a cableway, new swings, a modern climbing frame and large rotator for local children to enjoy.

Rowlands Play Area 2 The upgrade follows the Cinnamon Brow Residents Association (CIMBRA) being awarded a £57,000 grant from FCC Environment Ltd (provided by WREN through the landfill communities’ fund). .

Muir Group Housing Association also contributed £10,000 towards the cost of the development, with Warrington Borough Council also donating £900.

The local wildlife has also been catered for, with a ‘Bug Hotel’ courtesy of the staff at Sodexo.

 


Charlie Hulse from CIMBRA said:

“It is great to see the new play area open now. The old facilities were not up to scratch, and it wasn’t a very appealing place for young kids to come and play. We wanted local children to have a space that creates play and imagination, and where local people of all ages can relax and enjoy themselves.

Rowlands Play Area 3 “The change has been remarkable, and we would like to thank all the parties involved for making this happen.”
