FIRST NEW RESIDENTS MAKE THEIR MOVE TO MUIR’S WATSON ROAD HOMES

THE first residents at Muir’s new 44-home affordable housing scheme are all smiles after receiving the keys to their properties.

Thrilled residents rocked up at Watson Road in Blackpool, delighted to make their move as they unlocked their new lives and headed through the front door.

Muir residents Both they and Muir staff were full of excitement on the day, with further homes set to be completed at the site in forthcoming weeks.

“I can’t wait to get in and call somewhere home,” Paula Grieve (right) said.

“It gives me security to know that I’ve not got to move again.

“It’s affordable rent and it’s a beautiful home – it’s everything you could dream of.”

PMuir residentaula received the keys on the same day as her new neighbour, Joanne Taylor (left), who was equally as delighted to be moving into her new home as she began bringing her possessions inside.

“It’s lovely, absolutely beautiful and we can’t wait to move in properly, Joanne said.

“My daughter is really looking forward to having a garden. It will make a really big difference to us financially too.”

Muir resident Victoria Screen (right) was another Muir resident proud to call the Watson Road development home after picking up the keys.

She said: “Having a brand-new house and a garden is lovely.

“I used to go to school around here so it’s nice to come back.”

Muir Tenancy Services Officer, Barbara Stephenson, was on hand to pass the keys to residents and welcome them to their new homes.

Consisting of both two and three-bedroom houses, as well as two-bed bungalows, the properties form part of Muir’s exciting ‘Building New Homes’ strategy, which is seeing the Association commit to building more and more affordable homes each year.

Work began to redevelop the former factory site in Spring 2018, and underlines Muir’s commitment to an area which already sees the Association manage almost 400 properties.
