Garden gets a feel-good facelift by Muir staff at sheltered housing scheme
SHELTERED housing scheme residents are enjoying their new-look garden after Muir staff gave it a feel-good facelift.
The housing association’s East team reacted to wishes from residents at McCartney House to have their garden area upgraded after reading their responses to the Customer Satisfaction Survey.
Team members pulled on their gardening gloves to give the garden area at the scheme near Huntingdon a sizeable spring clean.
And staff also took the chance to enjoy some quality time with the residents as they all took part in a special ‘Getting to Know You’ quiz.
Katie Hartshorn, Muir’s Community Housing Manager for the East said: “It was great to meet the residents and do something to help make their time outside more enjoyable.
“Their wishes to see the garden at McCartney House have some improvements were made clear in the Customer Satisfaction Survey so I am pleased we have been able to respond to that.
“Team members did some good work and had fun giving residents a garden they can feel proud of.
“And we all had a great time getting to know the residents better and spending time with them which is a very important thing to do.”
Team members were joined in the garden makeover by four staff from Muir’s grounds maintenance contractors.
Together, they provided new bedding plants and patio pots as well as re-staining wood, planting and tidying areas of the garden in general.
Afterwards, staff served tea and cakes to residents and held picture and fact-finding quizzes, matching facts to team members so residents could get to know them a better.
Sheltered scheme manager at McCartney House, Jackie Vickery said: “The efforts put in by staff at Muir received some great feedback from residents.
“They had a lot of fun getting to know team members better and are able to enjoy the sun in a garden, which has been much improved by Muir’s East team.”
