GAS ACCESS – WHY MUIR’S VITAL CHECKS CAN SAVE THE LIVES OF THOSE YOU LOVE

HELPING us do gas safety checks in your home can save your life, and the lives of those you love.

That’s why giving us access to do vital gas safety checks is so important.

If not, we might not find dangerous gas safety issues that could threaten you and your family.

“Badly fitted and poorly serviced gas appliances can cause gas leaks, fires, explosions and carbon monoxide poisoning,” Sofia McFadyen, Muir’s Compliance Manager said.

“Each year, our contractors visit all Muir homes to do 30-minute gas safety checks.

“We’ll always contact you to arrange a gas safety check, but if you don’t allow access after three attempts, we may force entry.

“Please help us keep you safe by giving us access to do these checks.”

Gas engineer What happens during a gas safety visit?

Our contractor will visit your home to carry out tests on all your gas appliances (boiler, hobs, etc), smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

This usually takes around 30 minutes.

It ensures your appliances are working safely and efficiently and don’t cost you more money to run.

What if I’m not available?

Most Muir residents give our contractors access to do gas safety checks in their home at the first appointment.

If the appointment isn’t convenient, call us on 0300 123 1222 to rearrange as soon as possible.

Using gas cooker What happens if I don’t give you access?

Failure to respond after three attempts will be seen as a breach of your tenancy agreement and will lead to legal action being taken against you through the courts.

This leads to Muir being given an injunction allowing us to enter your home.
