House builder makes £1,000 donation to Muir's Foodbank campaign
A PREMIER house builder has donated £1,000 towards a Muir campaign helping people in Chester facing poverty this Christmas.
Stewart Milne Homes made the donation towards Foodbanks across West Cheshire after learning of Muir Group Housing Association’s efforts to support people facing poverty over the festive period.
Thousands of people living below the poverty line benefit from Foodbanks each year, and employees from Stewart Milne have visited some of those in the region, while also learning about how Muir Group helps make a positive difference to people’s lives.
Sam Scott, Executive Director of Operations at Muir Group, was delighted to receive Stewart Milne’s generous donation at the Association’s Chester head office and said: “This is a wonderful contribution.
“Christmas is a difficult time of year for so many people, and as a housing association operating in this area, we see the impact it can have first-hand.
“Stewart Milne’s donation will make a very positive difference to the number of people we can help over the festive period, enabling struggling families to help ensure they have a Christmas they can enjoy.”
West Cheshire Foodbank, based on Dutton Green, Chester, was founded by local churches and community groups who work tirelessly to fight hunger throughout the year.
More than 60 volunteers help provide food for those in need each week.
Janet Solan, Senior Sales Manager at Stewart Milne Homes, said: “The visit to Muir Group and West Cheshire Food Bank has been eye opening.
“I never realised the extent of how many people need of emergency food, and it is humbling to see how hard volunteers and campaign planners work.
“Stewart Milne has a commitment to supporting the communities surrounding its developments.
“When we heard about the work that both these organisations were doing in Cheshire, we knew we had to help.”
Lindsay Burghall of the West Cheshire Food Bank, said: “The money from Stewart Milne will cover a significant portion of our operational costs.
“It will help us get food to those who need it most this Christmas.”
