IMPORTANT - TEMPORARY CHANGES TO YOUR REPAIRS AND MAINTENANCE SERVICES

WE’RE changing the way we do a few things at Muir while we wait for the Coronavirus to go away.

The changes impact the repairs and planned maintenance services we provide through Muir Property Solutions (MPS), Kier and our other contractors.

These aren’t decisions we’ve taken lightly, but we feel they’re necessary to ensure we deliver the right levels of service to help protect everyone.

They’re designed to make sure your Muir home remains a safe place to live despite the current unprecedented challenges, as well as allowing us to manage the huge volume of calls we’re now receiving while prioritising your needs more effectively and maximising our response in the right areas.

COVID-19 Service change video From Monday, March 23rd, Muir will be moving to an Emergency Repairs Service

What this means is that we’ll be responding to emergency repair issues only – just for the time being.

Emergency repairs consist of issues that affect the main services to your home, such as electrical, gas, water, drainage, health and safety or security.

These include:

  • Electrical Repairs – Loss of supply, broken or exposed sockets, switches etc
  • Gas Repairs - Gas leak, boiler repairs if you have no heating or hot water
  • Water Repairs – Burst water pipes, uncontrollable leaks
  • Drainage Repairs - Blocked drains, toilets or sinks
  • Health & Safety Repairs – Dangerous roof tiles slipping, loose guttering, collapsing walls, loose banisters on stairs, damaged fire doors, damaged asbestos
  • Security Repairs – Unsecure doors or windows broken/damaged

If the repair you wish to report is listed above then call us on 0300 123 1222 as you usually would.

Should your repair not be one of those listed in the emergencies above, then please email us at info@muir.org.uk if possible to tell us about it.

This will allow us to concentrate on the emergency issues and react accordingly while also minimising the number of visits we make to people’s homes at this sensitive time.

However, if you already have a non-emergency repair open with us, we will still endeavour to fix it during the usual timescale.

Obviously, there’s a lot going on at the moment so we really appreciate your understanding.

We’ll also be suspending all planned maintenance for the short-term

We’ll be completing the works that are already underway, but we won’t be starting any more.

The last thing we’d want is to have to walk away from a half-finished kitchen or bathroom because you need to self-isolate – and then not have the facilities you need, so we’re sure you can understand why this is necessary.

If we’re due to carry out such works in your home, we’ll be in touch to make new arrangements.

All external works planned at Muir homes have also been suspended.

Finally, we will still be undertaking the regular gas, electrical tests and fire risk assessments we do in your home

This is because we have a duty of care to ensure your property remains a safe place to live and we fulfil our responsibilities as a landlord.

Obviously if you’ve shown any Coronavirus symptoms then let us know either before or when we arrive and we’ll make suitable arrangements

If you can allow us access though, please do so – these checks are very important for your health and safety.
