IT’S THE BIG ONE! – MUIR’S BIGGEST DEVELOPMENT FOR A DECADE OPENS IN BLACKPOOL
THE largest single Muir development for a decade is about to welcome new residents as it throws open the doors to new affordable homes.
Muir Group Housing Association’s 44-home scheme at Watson Road in Blackpool is nearing completion with the first new residents set to receive the keys in September.
Built on the site of a former factory, Muir’s regeneration of the area is bringing quality new homes to the area, all of which are being made available for affordable rent.
“We’re so excited,” said Alex Fury, Muir’s Assistant Director of Assets and Growth.
“We can’t wait to see people moving into these new homes.
“It’s a development we’re really proud of because not only is it the largest Muir has undertaken in the last ten years, but it’s fulfilling an important need in Blackpool for quality, new, affordable homes.”
Consisting of both two and three-bedroom houses, as well as two-bed bungalows, they form part of Muir’s exciting ‘Building New Homes’ strategy, which is seeing the Association commit to building more and more affordable homes each year.
Work began to redevelop the former factory site in Spring 2018 after it had stood empty for several years prior to Muir’s involvement – but now the first batch of new properties stand on the cusp of completion.

he homes, being built by MCI Developments, benefited from a Homes England Grant, and underlines Muir’s commitment to an area which already sees the Association manage almost 400 properties.
“We’re delighted to be bringing these homes to Blackpool,” Sam Scott, Muir’s Director of Operations said.
“They build on our commitment to the area and we can’t wait to see new Muir residents moving in.
“Muir promised to provide these affordable homes, and we are delighted to deliver them for people and families here."
