KIER TO GIVE MUIR RESIDENTS A GREAT MOBILITY-MINDED GARDEN MAKEOVER

MUIR’S repairs and maintenance provider for the East is to give sheltered scheme residents a magical new garden makeover.

Kier are helping residents enjoy more of the garden at Muir’s McCartney House scheme in Godmanchester by creating a new pathway enabling those with mobility issues to access all areas of the colourful space.

The pathway is just part of a Kier initiative to refresh the garden, with a host of other work ready to take place, which the company’s contract manager says reflects the positive difference it wants to make for Muir residents overall.

Kier logo “We are really excited to be working on this first project with Muir, delivering added value for the residents at McCartney House,” Mark Hopkins, Contract Manager at Kier said.

“Making a positive impact, above and beyond the day job in the communities we work in is really important to Kier”.

Muir has welcomed the added investment Kier are bringing to the scheme, which was secured as part of the overall maintenance contract agreed by the Association's Property Services team.

McCartney House Housing officers from Muir's East housing team will also be helping with the McCartney House garden makeover, which includes relaying the patio area and building new raised flower beds around it, cutting back overgrown shrubs, painting the pergola and giving the garden a general tidy up.

Simon Rudkin, Muir’s Community Housing Manager for the East said: “We’re delighted that all residents will be able to enjoy as much of the garden as possible thanks to the great improvements Kier are making at McCartney House.

McCartney House “The added value aspect of the contract agreed with Kier by Muir's Property Services department means Kier have the opportunity to help more residents make the most of the scheme’s gorgeous garden area.

"Everyone is looking forward to seeing the improvements unfold - it's fantastic.”
