MAKE SURE SPARKS DON’T FLY – MUIR’S ELECTRICAL SAFETY VISITS HELP KEEP YOU SAFE

MAKE sure sparks don’t fly by ensuring you give access when Muir’s electrical contractors come calling.

Electrical safety is of paramount importance in your home and Muir conducts regular maintenance checks to help keep people safe.

It isn’t just a case of reading the meter, the checks could help discover a fault with any wiring, and provide you with valuable electrical safety advice.

We don’t want any Muir resident to be one of the 3,455 people who the NHS say visited Accident and Emergency wards in hospitals across the UK during 2016-17 because of electric shocks.

The Home Office also confirmed that at least 10% of all fires are caused by problems with electrical wiring, cabling or plugs during that time – causing nearly 500 deaths.

“Muir carries out electrical safety checks on its properties every five years,” Mike Proudfoot, the Association’s Compliance Manager said.

“Every property gets an electrical safety check before new residents move in too.

“It’s really important we do these checks to help ensure people’s safety and fulfil our commitment as a responsible landlord for residents.”

Residents receive a letter from one of our electrical safety contractors, either MPS (Muir Property Solutions) or Kier to tell them when an appointment has been made to perform an inspection.

If the date or time is not convenient, then residents are welcome to contact us to rearrange the appointment.

However, it is important that these checks are carried out.
