DIY Your tenancy agreement includes types of improvements Muir needs to approve before you can do the work.

  • Installing gas fires
  • Installing central heating
  • DIYInstalling extra electrical sockets

"If you’d like to make improvements to your home, please send a written request to your tenancy services officer," Muir’s Compliance Manager, Mike Proudfoot said.

"This way we can advise on any issues that may affect your health and safety, such as removing artex which may contain asbestos.

"If your home was built before the year 2000 it could possibly contain asbestos. You really don't want to disturb this while doing any DIY.

"Let Muir know what you intend doing and we will ensure your safety by advising you on whether or not you are likely to disturb any asbestos.

DIY"To do this we may need to carry out an inspection before Muir give you the go ahead to start work.

"We will consider your request and contact with approval to go ahead, or explain any reasons why consent has not been given.

"Our consent must be obtained before you carry out any improvements to your home."
