Many residents now prefer to pay rent by Direct Debit - Read what they say

RESIDENTS have been heaping praise on Muir’s Direct Debit payment system which is fast becoming a favourite way to pay rent.

Many residents have commented on Muir’s website to say how much they prefer to pay rent by Direct Debit, thanks to its simplicity.

More residents are seeing Direct Debit as a stress-free solution to ensuring the rent gets paid on time, with the set-up process taking just a few minutes to complete over the phone.

Customer Service Team Muir resident Sue Shore said: “Direct debit takes all the stress away of paying your rent and satisfaction that we have a place to call home.”

Heather Rogers, who has been a Muir resident for 33 years, also pays by Direct Debit and said: “This way we know the rent is always paid.”

Matt Johnson also agreed, saying: “I've always paid by Direct Debit, gives you peace of mind knowing it’s been paid.”

And Sharon Lever also spoke highly of the service when she said: “It’s easy to do and set up, and saves the worry of having your rent paid on time.”

As more residents switch to paying their rent by Direct Debit, Muir has also seen arrears fall to some of their lowest levels, while evictions also fell by 54% in 2015-16 compared with the previous financial year.

Changing payments to direct debit has also never been easier. Muir’s Customer Service Team can set residents up over the phone in less than five minutes.

Andrew Warren Muir Group Housing Association’s Customer Services Team Leader, Andrew Warren (pictured) said: “Providing residents have a bank account we can set up a Direct Debit payment for resident during a one-off conversation over the phone, meaning they don’t have to worry about calling to make payments month after month.

“Direct Debit payments have been a big win for many Muir residents as they can often prove to be the most effective way to pay.”

Direct Debit also offers indemnity protection to ensure residents receive more peace of mind, knowing their payments are protected.

Jacqueline Pell, another Muir resident said: “I have always paid my rent by direct debit...excellent way of doing it! Never had a problem.”

Muir resident Meryl Jones said: “I pay my rent for my garage on direct debit and will continue to do so.”

And Tina Evans is also a fan of the system, saying: “I have always paid by direct debit. It is easy to do and you know where you are at with it.”
