MUIR LIVING RESIDENTS LEARN MORE ABOUT DEMENTIA AT FUNDRAISING CREAM TEA

MUIR Living residents have been learning more about dementia so they can offer more support.

The Fusilier Court residents enjoyed a visit from Bury Council’s ‘Older People’s Staying Well Team’ and took part in ‘bingo scenarios’ to understand how to safeguard friends and family with dementia.

They also raised money for Dementia UK with a cream tea, raffle and tombola.

Muir residents“Residents enjoyed getting to know more about dementia with the team from Bury Council while raising £180 for Dementia UK,” Jennifer Hutchinson Muir Living Officer at Fusilier Court in Bury said.

“They thought the bingo sessions, which gave them different scenarios to consider and act out, was a great way to learn how to approach different situations.

“The cream tea event gave the session a relaxed feel and everyone felt able to take part.

“Dementia is something many older people and families can face and it’s important to know more about it for people of all ages, but especially for older generations.

“The visit was an opportunity for Bury Council to learn a little more about Muir Living and how we support people in the community too.”

Muir residentsThe council team will return for further sessions on hydration and nutrition, and wellbeing, as we work together with them to maximise people’s quality of life at our Muir Living locations.
